WHAT IS THE SISTER SCHOOL PROGRAM?
The Sister School Program is a district-wide, PTA-sponsored program that began in 1994 as "The Cross County Partner School Program" (also known as "Cross County Books/Clothes"). Each participating PTA unit in SRVUSD has a Sister School Ambassador/Representative who is an active volunteer member of the PTA Board and is responsible for coordinating the program at their school.
SRVUSD schools are partnered with schools located in a wide variety of locations in the East Bay such as Richmond, San Pablo, Antioch, Pittsburg, Concord and Oakland. Our Sister Schools are some of the most impoverished in the East Bay. Many of the families live below the poverty level, and the test scores at the schools are some of the lowest in the state. At most of the schools, 85% - 100% of students participate in the Free and Reduced School Lunch program, and some of the children go without food on the weekends.
Your donation to the Serve/Sister School committees will help us to provide additional services and goods to our Sister School, Cesar Chavez Elementary School and to our local community. This could include food, warm coats, school supplies, or supplies to use during a philanthropic community event.
